D:SMART Workshop is an annual in-person conference that promotes networking and technical advancements within the European community of electronic identities, wallets, smart cards, and hardware security modules (HSMs). Formerly known as the Smartcard-Workshop, it has been the key event for hands-on researchers, standardization group members, decision-makers, and experts from industry and government institutions since 1991.

The 2026 ID:SMART edition will take place on February 18-19, 2026, in Darmstadt, Germany. The official conference language will be English, including all presentations.

We invite contributions addressing innovations, regulations, standards, certifications, or implementations related to electronic identities for both individuals and connected devices. Submissions may focus on application-oriented or foundational topics and research, such as:

• All aspects of digital identity lifecycles
• Technologies and industry best practices, including post-quantum cryptography (PQC), hybridization, compliance and interoperability testing, evaluation, and certification
• Identity technologies such as travel and ID documents, digital wallets, qualified electronic attestation of attributes, identity proofing, etc.
• Use cases across various sectors, including Secure IoT, Automation, Healthcare, Mobility/Automotive, Government Services, and more.
